Outdoor therapy in Manchester
I am Helen, a person-centred counsellor working in the Chorlton area of South Manchester. I offer outdoor walk and talk therapy to people 18 years and over in Chorlton Water Park. I believe in the healing ability of nature and believe being outside can enhance the experience of therapeutic counselling. We can walk and talk or find a quiet spot to sit and work on issues that you bring to the session in natural surroundings.
I offer my counselling skills to support you to explore difficulties such as anxiety, stress, low mood, adapting to change, relationship problems, self-esteem, identity, grief and loss, and addiction issues (yourself or someone important to you). We can work together to discuss the challenges you are facing in life with the hope that you can gain deeper insight, explore ways to change or resolve things if that is possible, find acceptance, and an increased sense of peace with your situation.
You will be listened to in a non-judgmental, compassionate way with your best interests being at the heart of all we discuss. I will not usually give advice or offer solutions as I believe that through the counselling process you will tune in more fully to your own personal inner wisdom and through this trust that you will make the right choices for you. My role will be to use person-centred counselling skills to support you in a deeper exploration of your core self with the goal being to find the right next steps in your life.
If you have a dog, I am happy to discuss the possibility of bringing it along to outdoor sessions.
I work outside all year round and offer sunrise or sunset sessions in spring and summer months.
If you would like to know more about what I can offer, please email me, and we can arrange to have a free discussion. This will give you a chance to ask questions, share any worries you may have about starting counselling, and find out what you hope to get from the counselling journey.
Client experiences
– Counselling Client, May 2025I came to Helen after trying more conventional, indoor therapy and finding it too confining. Her outdoor approach at Chorlton Water Park was the complete opposite. It was open, grounding, and incredibly refreshing. From the start, she was welcoming and kind, creating a space that felt safe, calm, and genuinely healing.
She's a skilled and compassionate therapist, and her passion for nature-based therapy shines through in every session. Walking and talking outdoors helped me feel more connected to myself and more at ease than I ever had in a therapy room. I'm really grateful to have found her and would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking to reconnect with themselves in a more natural and supportive environment.
